WIPs February 17, 2009

Start-itis is a bad thing. But in the words of Ludacris, why does everything that’s bad for me feels so good. Ok, maybe that’s a little extra, but anyway, here’s what I have going right now:

The Entrelac Scarf:

Now when I first touched Noro, I did not think I would like it. It seemed rough, and itchy. But when La made her mom an Entrelac scarf with it, I changed my mind, real quick.

Shifting Sands Scarf:

With one of my favorite yarns, Dream In Color. It’s so soft and squishy. This scarf is for a woman that I work with that is so sweet. She made me a really pretty knitting needle holder, that I still need to take a picture of.

Purple Berries Scarf:

Manos may become one of my favorite yarns as well. I think this pattern is perfect for this yarn, shows off the variegation very well!!

And last but definitely not least, the CPH:

This is my first sweater. I thought I would be able to finish it in a month, but it’s not looking like that will be possible. Anywho, my progress of the back.

I don’t feel overwhelmed, yet, but all of these are fairly new projects, so we’ll see how I do!

A Gift… January 22, 2009

A friend of mine at work sews, and she made me a really pretty knitting needle holder (picture to come later). And I’ve been wanting to make her something, so I cast on:

Shifting Sands pattern on ravelry. I made a few modifications. I only cast on 32 (Doreen is very petite). I did a k1p1 beginning (and I’ll do that at the end too) to prevent curling. As the pattern suggests, I am cabling without a cable needle. When I first tried it, I didn’t think I would enjoy it. In fact, after the first few tries, I gave up and used a dpn. Well, I hate to feel as though I’ve been defeated, so I tried again. It’s going a lot better. And I must say that it is faster than using a cable needle. I will continue to use a cable needle for cables that are larger than 2 stitches, but for this scarf, one isn’t necessary. I’m going to take my time with it, but I want to finish by April 12th! I’m guessing if I do merely 5 repeats a week, I will be in good shape!

Knitting Machine… January 12, 2009

For some reason, I did quite a bit of knitting this weekend. I finished a Christmas Gift, that really shouldn’t have taken this long:

I made a cabled beret for the lady that trims my hair for me.  This was a really quick knit for me, I can’t wait to make me a few:

I also worked on my square scarf.  I’ve done a little over 15 repeats, so I have about 5 more to go!

After that, I’m going to work on my Lady E so I can get that finished.

Then I will be ready to start my CPH!  Which will be my first sweater!!
