De-Stashing!!! March 4, 2009

I’m a member of a yahoo group, FtWayneFreecycle, where people can offer, or ask for things. The group was created to keep stuff out of land fields, so, instead of throwing stuff away, you send a message to the group, and if someone wants it, they reply, you set up a time to exchange (normally they come and pick it up), and it’s gone!
Now I can’t claim to be the ‘greenest’ person, but I do take advantage when I can. So the other day, a lady sent a message to the group that she was making a blanket, and would take any yarn that someone wanted to get rid of. Well, I had some yarn from my beginning knitting days that I doubt I would have ever used. And, getting rid of it, is the perfect opportunity to buy other awesome yarn!!
So, I sent her a message (not knowing exactly what I had to offer up, but knowing I had something) and got all of my (mostly acrylic) yarn that I didn’t have any plans for, or wasn’t really all that excited about having, and put it in a bag.
She was grateful to take if off of my hands, and I was grateful that it would be put to use and not sitting in a basket, or my hanging yarn storage (that is really for shoes) collecting dust. Now (when I finish at least one or more WIP’s (works in progress)) I can buy more awesome yarn from my favorite LYS!!!
