I worked on the never-ending cowl yesterday. I really want to get it done, then I can focus on knitting for BlackPurls!!
Ugh… January 11, 2010
So, I started a cowl for my mother, well before Christmas, and, I’m thinking about taking it down. Not that I don’t like the pattern, it’s really pretty. Not that I don’t like the yarn, I LOVE malabrigo. I just can’t get into it. I can work about 2 rows in a setting before I’m ready to put it down and move on to something else. I’m giving myself a deadline, if it’s not finished by two weeks from today, January 25th, I’m taking it down and making something else.
A New Year… January 6, 2010
I have been slacking on blogging. Ah, things happen.
It’s 2010 and there are some exciting things in store for me. My bestie and I, lovelifelive, and going to start selling knitted items. We created an etsy shop, which I will share once we have some items to sell. We are talking about business and our goals, and we will be up and running soon. I am super pumped about it. We are really close, so there will be no hard feelings for keeping one another in check. We both have excellent work ethic, and we love to knit. Sounds like a great combination to me. We aren’t looking for a get rich quick type of thing. Time and quality is what we are focused on. We didn’t discuss this, but I know my friend.
With that, I give you my knitting goal for 2010:
Work the agreed upon time each week on knitted items for the ‘shop’.
Finish everything that I currently have on needles.
Work on one personal project at a time.
Use up my current stash.
Seems doable, but we’ll see. I think I should change the last item to be don’t buy any yarn for personal use. I’m not going to force myself to knit something just to use up yarn. I like all the yarn that I have, and all of it has a purpose. That sounds like a post that I need to do, take pictures of my stash, and associate it with a planned project!
Here’s to a more focused 2010!!!
Bad Santa January 2, 2010

So, we said our limit was $25 for a non-handmade gift for one another, but I thought you would have the same love that I have for these awesome needles, so I did it. I ordered you some, and, I got them in the mail yesterday. I didn’t go over by too much. I hope you aren’t upset with the size that I chose. I know you have like 4 pair of size 8 needles, but, these needles are so awesome, they had to be a common size.
I can’t tell you how much I absolutely love these needles, and you will too. Without these, I don’t think I would have ever learned how to cable without a cable needle. The stiletto tip makes it so easy. I’ve made 2 of 3 of your gifts with these needles, and I will probably make the very last one with these needles as well!! You know the shifting sands scarf was made with them, I also made the heelhead scarf with them (which is what I’m working on now, I’m behind). I will probably make the reclamation out of it too, I’m going to look at the notes on the one you made and see what size you said you should have used, and go with that. At least for the beginning, I’m sure I’ll have to switch to circulars.
Anywho, I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
Oh Boy January 1, 2010
So, I was just looking at your blog La, at the post you made about your stash on 11/9/09, and realized, I bought yarn to make you a reclamation scarf, and it’s the EXACT same color as the yarn you want to make a sweater out of. You have 5 skeins of this yarn. I had SJ’s wind it for me, so I can’t take it back. Now I’m faced with a dilemma, do I keep it, or do I just say eff it, it’s not like you are going to wear the sweater with the reclamation scarf. I’m going to keep it, if you don’t want it in that color, wait a minute, it’s you, you’ll love it. And, you specifically asked for something orange, so orange you will get. If you had made that post just a few days earlier, maybe I would have chose a different color. The yarn is so soft and pretty, so I’m sure you’ll love it!!
